Peter Boylston Adams papers, 1968-1969.

Diary and letters written by Peter Boylston Adams while stationed in Di An and Tay Ninh, Vietnam, 1968-69. Adams was a helicopter pilot and served with B Troop, 7th Squadron, 1st Air Cavalry Regiment, B Troop 3rd Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry Regiment ("Burning Stogies"), and C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry ("Charlie Horse") of the United States Army. He describes in his diary and letters home to fianceĢŒ Sharon "Sherry" Pruett (later Adams), daily routine, skirmishes, men wounded and killed, loss of friends, and details of flying through enemy fire. Also includes a letter received from his father Thomas Boylston Adams congratulating him on receiving a decoration for bravery; letters received from relatives of friends killed, thanking Adams for his letters of condolence; service papers; and newspaper clippings.
